We invite you to join us February 7-18, 2022 for several social and educational events surrounding healthy relationships and sexual health for people with disabilities. Events are designed for people with disabilities of all ages, parents/guardians, and professionals. Scroll down for a full list of events and descriptions.

Please select your role and choice of attendance to determine registration cost. You can choose to register to attend the events or can add on a kit to be mailed to you. The kit for individuals and families includes a Family Discussion Guide, Empower Me Card Deck, and Boundaries Flip Book. The kit for professionals includes the Sexuality for All Abilities: Teaching and Discussing Sexual Health in Special Education Book, Empower Me Card Deck, Boundaries Flip Book, and PDFs of our Social Stories and Guided Relaxation Stories.

Kick Off Event, February 7, 6:00 - 7:00 pm CT

Join Katie Thune and the Mad Hatter Wellness educators for a fun and informative evening to kick off The Heart of Relationships Virtual Conference!  Join others for icebreakers, networking, and an overview of events.

Love Yoga, February 8, 6:30 - 7:30 pm CT

Join Anna for a yoga class that will focus on love, gentle strength and soothing our hearts. All abilities are welcome - participate in a way that feels good for your body.

LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Special Education, February 9th, 5:00 - 5:45 pm CT

Dylan Kapit (they/them) is a queer, trans, non-binary, autistic Jew. They are a Special Educator who is passionate about disability justice, and queer and trans liberation.

Improv Games- Strengthening Healthy Social Skills, February 9th, 7:00 - 8:30 pm CT

Join Kelly and Michael from MNProv to play some fun improv games in a safe, supportive and creative space. While you are laughing and having fun, you will also be reducing stress, getting to know new people, and practicing the interpersonal skills that are in the Heart of Relationships. A former student told us that playing improv games is a great way to "explore the social unknown in a safe environment."

Heart of Relationships Class, February 10, 6:00 - 7:00 pm CT

Paige from Mad Hatter Wellness leads this class about the key pieces of a healthy relationship. We will review our popular tool, the Heart of Relationships.

Happy Hour Event, February 11, 4:00 - 5:00 PM CT

The Mad Hatter Wellness crew invites you to a time to socialize together.

Panel Discussion: Being Queer & Disabled, February 12, 2:00 - 3:00 pm CT

Join us for a conversation about the intersection of queerness and disability. Topics such as non-monogamy, same sex couples and intersections of multiple identities will be addressed during this panel.

Love Songs Karaoke, February 14, 6:30 - 7:30 pm CT 

Join Dusty and Katie for an entertaining session of Love Song Karaoke! Love songs through the ages crooned by you and your friends with no pressure or judgment. Sing like no one is listening, or un-mute yourself to the group!

Educator Support Call, February 15, 10:00 - 11:00 am CT

A time for educators to ask burning questions and to learn about using Sexuality for All Abilities with Leah and Anna.

Trivia Game, February 15, 6:00 - 7:00 pm CT

Leah will lead us all in a fun and educational game of trivia.

Parent Support Call, February 16, 12:00 -1:00 pm CT

Join Parent/Caregiver Education Specialist Kim Rossow in a conversation specifically for caregivers of those with disabilities.  During our monthly parent/caregiver support zoom calls, Kim provides information and resources and answers the tough questions.

Art Together: Nurturing Relationships through Creative Experiences, February 16, 6:00 - 7:00 pm CT

Shared positive experiences foster a profound sense of well-being, closeness, and joy. With simple materials, you can design a positive creative experience for you and your partner/friend/client/child that deepens connection and encourages exploration, play, and artistic discovery. In this session, we will make art together using common household art supplies to create an abstract composition that is uniquely your own.

Interactive Tools for Teaching Healthy Relationships Education with Learners with Higher Needs, February 17, 2:00-2:30 pm CT

Join Paige and Katie from Mad Hatter Wellness to learn about the use of interactive tools to increase comprehension and participation in healthy relationships and sexuality education lessons for learners with higher needs, and to open up opportunities for communication about these topics in everyday life for individuals who are non-verbal or benefit from aids.

Poetry Reading, February 17, 5:00 - 6:00 pm CT

Express yourself, or just listen to the creativity of others, at this live Poetry Reading with Leah.

Relationship Bingo & Conference Closing, February 18, 5:00 - 6:00 pm CT

For our last event, Paige from Mad Hatter Wellness will lead us in Relationship Bingo! Bingo squares will be filled with words related to all types of relationships (example: boundary, date, compromise). You will have the option to print your bingo card or access it on your device.
